Jira pipeline workshop

LEARN ADVANCED JIRA PIPELINE DESIGN AND OFF-SHORE TEAM MANAGEMENT

Are you tired of dealing with Atlassian Jira’s complexity, bottlenecks, and insufficient pipeline capabilities in its default setup? Do you miss deadlines in your software development process due to Jira ticket mayhem or related problems? Are you having trouble syncing releases on different device types?

Are you working with, or plan to work with, off-shore developers on the other side of the World? Do you experience issues with productivity? What about timezone problems? Do you have communication dropouts and long turnarounds in answering questions?

Then I’m confident to say that I can revolutionize your project management approach with my “Advanced Jira Pipeline Workshop”. With my workshop, I empower your team to leverage Jira’s full potential, enabling you to streamline your development process, increase productivity, and deliver exceptional results on time. No more ticket chaos with endless linked ticket chains.

The Workshop can include if you wish, the do’s and don’ts of working with off-shore developers in developing countries. How to nourish a healthy, professional relationship with them, taking into account cultural differences and time zones.

CUSTOM MADE WORKSHOP

It has taken me many years to build the base pipeline I now use, and explain in my Workshop. It is sculpted by trial and error. This pipeline can be modified to fit most projects. I re-utilize sections of Jira that were created for a different type of usage by Atlassian, to harness the full potential. I also use Third Party plugins to compensate for Jira’s lack of features in some areas.

The Workshop can be held online, or physically at a place of your choice, and include the following phases;

1. Interview: First, I hold an interview with you where we discuss the issues your organization experiences, and define the scope of the goal you want to reach. Technical details are also communicated so that I can suggest a pipeline modification in step 2, to fit your workflow. I suggest Workshop content, and you choose the final setup and dates.

2. Workshop: I hold the workshop online or at a place of your choice. It can be in lecture form and/or hands-on Jira guidance where I install a clone of my Jira Cloud Project (with all settings and automation) on your organization’s Jira accounts. From there, I can guide your team and teach them how the pipeline work, and we adjust it to fit your company. I can lecture on any of the topics below that you find interesting.

3. Retrospect: At the end of the workshop, you will have full insight into how to work with my Jira setup, adapted to your workflow. You will also have a clear understanding of the benefits in relation to the problems your organization experiences.

TOPICS TO CHOOSE WHEN BUILDING YOUR WORKSHOP

You can pick and choose from the following topics to build your custom-made Workshop;

  • Design and hierarchy of Jira Issue Types, relevant to your project. To avoid ticket mayhem. This includes a configuration where “Epics” are shown directly in the SCRUM board as tickets, for better overview and work-tracking. I go through the setup of Issue type workflows, permissions, and other configurations.
  • How to configure UI design tools like Figma, so that updated designs in a frame don’t destroy context if older designs of the same frame are linked to Jira.
  • Google Sheet Issue import template, how to create tickets fast and then import them to Jira. This includes auto-updated dropdowns in the sheet for fast selection.
  • Usage of a third-party plugin, that extends the time logging per ticket feature set in Jira. It makes it possible to quickly see if too much time has been spent on tickets, compared to estimation.
  • Extended Backlog. Design, idea, and usage of a custom-made backlog in Jira I have made, with extended features. This backlog has been created by re-utilizing other Jira features. The extended backlog has its own sub-pipeline for tickets going from DRAFT to READY for a sprint.
  • Feature Flags. This is another third-party plugin for Jira and deployment management that significantly reduces the regression bug risk when deploying. I explain how this works and integrates with the Jira pipeline.
  • Automated testing platforms and how they integrate with the pipeline.
  • How to set up tag rules for comments on Jira tickets and in Slack, for minimal time spent on reading such. Pinpoint relevant info. Track comments with efficiency.
  • Off-Shore teams; Calendar rules and meeting structure for minimal productivity impact. How to set up cross-timezone events for reduced turnaround on questions.
  • Dev shops in developing countries; The Do’s and Don’ts when collaborating with developers and dev shops in Asia. The most common scams and how to spot them. How to nourish a good relationship.
